About Goughie's Coffee & Sophie's Sauna

Hi, I’m Ronan, the face behind Goughie’s Coffee.

Living in the beautiful Glenasmole and Bohernabreena area, I noticed a big rise in visitors exploring the Dublin Mountains, and with that came traffic, congestion, and blocked rural roads.

To help ease the pressure, I opened up my yard to offer safe, secure parking for hikers and nature lovers. What started as a simple parking solution quickly turned into something more. I converted an old rice horsebox into a small coffee and tea station, giving walkers a place to relax, recharge, and enjoy a warm drink before or after their adventures.

That little setup has grown into what’s now Goughie’s Coffee — a cosy mountain stop offering great coffee, clean facilities, trail info, and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone (including dogs!). And now, with the addition of Sophie’s Sauna, named after our much-loved Sophie the Sheep, visitors can enjoy the ultimate post-hike recovery: a 45-minute session of soothing heat, invigorating cold, and pure mountain calm.

Whether you’re out for a peaceful stroll, a big hike, or just some relaxation time, we’re here to make your visit a little more enjoyable.
